Registered Manager - Children's Residential Care

About us

Hillingdon Council: Putting our Residents first.

Few management opportunities are as rewarding as this one. One where you'll grow personally and professionally in an environment of support and camaraderie. Where what matters beyond anything else is the safety, security and development of vulnerable young people.

About the role

Hillingdon Council's Merchiston House is a five-bed residential children's services unit. Join as an Ofsted Registered Manager and you'll lead it day-to-day. You'll make sure the young people in your care - often with emotional or behavioural difficulties, symptoms of trauma or anti-social behaviour - are warm, safe and have their needs met. Ultimately, you'll be a very important presence in their lives, creating an environment that helps them develop the independence and skills to live stable lives.

Sometimes the young people could be on risk management plans - so you'll work closely with other agencies within the local authority and the health service to deliver really strong outcomes.

We'll look to you to ensure that practice supervision, group supervision and team development are embedded in the day-to-day culture the staff team. And you'll regularly audit the service and oversee the management of the building and facilities.

About you

We're looking for a proven manager or deputy manager of a similar unit who really wants to progress. You'll have significant experience in a residential childcare setting, working with young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

Qualifications-wise, we're flexible. You could bring an NVQ/QCF/ILM Level 4/5 in Children & Young People, a Certificate in Management studies, a Diploma in Management/Business studies or Diploma/Degree in Social Work, or other Health or Social Care-related field.

On a personal level, we're looking for the ability to lead change, manage complex budgets, recruit excellent people and motivate teams of talented, experienced professionals.

In return, you can look forward to a competitive salary and excellent local authority benefits, including pension, generous annual leave and much more
