Senior Registered Nurse


There has never been a more exciting time to join Halton Borough Council. We are excited as a care home division to be involved in many exciting projects, including the development of an electronic care recording system, recruitment of volunteers and plans for a refurbishment of all our homes with over £3 million secured to start work in 2023. Because of this, we are looking to recruit a Senior Nurse to support the needs of our service.


Reporting to the Registered Manager the Senior Nurse will be part of a team who have responsibility for the clinical care of residents within a unit, working with the support of other health colleagues and the whole care team to ensure the highest standards of care are achieved for all residents.  You will be supported to develop your skills as an autonomous practitioner and will have opportunities to enhance your leadership and management skills.

You will work with a team of nurses with a breadth of clinical skills and knowledge.  You will be supported by the community and acute health colleagues, with strong links with GP and Mental Health teams.  You will build meaningful relationships with the residents you support, understanding their history and what is important to them. 


As the Senior Nurse, you will be genuinely enthusiastic about providing person-centred and strengths-based care to our elderly residents, supporting them to enhance their health and well-being and live meaningful lives. 

The successful candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, showing confidence to make clinical decisions daily.  Great communication and an ability to show empathy and compassion are essential. 

Applicants must be

  • A Registered Nurse and have a Diploma in Nursing
  • Clinical leadership of a care home / clinical environment
  • Management and supervision of registered nurses and care staff


Halton council owns 3 nursing homes in the borough

  • Millbrow Care Home, Widnes- 44-bed nursing home – providing general nursing care and Dementia nursing care.
  • St Patricks, Widnes- 40 bedded Nursing home – providing Dementia nursing care.
  • St Lukes, Runcorn, 56 bedded Nursing home – providing Dementia nursing care.
