Job introduction

In this role you’ll be contributing to a multi-year programme of organisational modernisation and business change. As part of Orbis, a shared services partnership between Brighton and Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council, and Surrey County Council, you’ll have exposure and opportunities beyond the immediate Council, should you wish.

You’ll be based in our modern open plan offices in the city centre and benefit from flexible working. Joining our energetic and supportive team working closely with Agile development teams to deliver improvements to the council and Brighton and Hove citizens. The council is committed to the continued development of staff, so both formal and informal training will be provided.

About the role

The role sits in the Digital Development team which has emerging DevOps and Reporting functions within the Digital and Data service area of the IT department. It’s an exciting technical role implementing and supporting leading enterprise development, integration and identity management platforms. We support an Agile development environment (Scrum and Kanban) and work closely with IT Infrastructure, development, reporting and business support teams.

Do you want to be integral to exciting systems integration projects and work with technologies that are at the top right of the Gartner Quadrants such as the Dell Boomi iPaaS and the Mendix Rapid Application Development platform? Ideal candidates will be able to describe their experience, knowledge or interest in some of the following areas:

  • A background in Database / Systems Administration, Application / Database Development, Infrastructure Engineering
  • Collaborative with good communication skills
  • Agile Scrum or Kanban
  • Working within a DevOps environment
  • Working with RAD platforms
  • Working with Data Warehouses / Data Lakes particularly on-prem / Azure, database documentation
  • Integrating systems using API's
  • Application and Database Release Management, CI/CD Pipelines
  • Good knowledge of Window OS
  • Good programming skills
  • Exposure to Jenkins, Git / GitHub / GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
