We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer to join our Highway Electrical and ITS Team.
The post holder will be part of a small team which is responsible for the maintenance and the delivery of new work projects for street lighting, traffic signals and integrated transport systems within the geographical area of North Somerset.
As a member of the team, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the team’s Traffic Signals & ITS function, including:
- Contract management of the Joint Authority Traffic Signals contract run by Bristol City Council
- Programme and planning management
- Overseeing the design and delivery of the team’s annual traffic signals maintenance and installation works.
- Technical Approval and Installation of Capital Works including projects such as the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
- Supervision and direction of a traffic signals engineer.
To be successful you will need significant in-depth technical knowledge and experience of dealing with asset management systems, Traffic Signals & ITS projects and design work with customer care being at the forefront of your everyday working.
Understanding of MOVA, UTC and Bus Priority from a Technical Approval basis would be essential and the requirement to carry out designs is desirable, but not essential.
You will work collaboratively with contractors and colleagues across the organisation and local stakeholders as well as meeting members of the public. Strong IT skills and the ability to use asset and project management software is essential. You must be able to prioritise work effectively and be able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines.
You will be required to have a valid driving licence to use one of our pool vehicles or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel to visit outlying sites.
