The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras.  The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset).

This is a varied and interesting post which provides a comprehensive technical and administrative support to Planning Officers in the Development Management team.

You will be working in a small, busy team providing a high quality, customer-focused service - responsible for the logging, validation and registration of all types of planning, pre-applications and other related applications, supporting the monthly planning committee process, issuing planning decision notices and administer the planning appeals process.

A Planning background is not required as full training will be given.

We are looking for candidates with a good level of education including Maths and English and the successful candidate will need to be well-organised, efficient with great attention to detail. You will be able to adjust to changing demands and be able to define priorities, work accurately and have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the general public.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).

Benefits include 25 – 30 days annual leave (depending on the length of Local Government Service) plus one floating day per annum, local government pension scheme, flexible working hours (including the opportunity to take up to 2 days flexi leave per month), free car parking, free use of leisure facilities, cycle scheme and season ticket loans.  The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work up to two days per week from home.
