The Exchequer Services Section within Financial Services oversees the Council’s Income Management, Sundry Debt Management, Creditor Administration and Payroll processes. The Council’s payments systems and processes are currently undergoing significant development with a view to modernisation, greater automation and efficiency and improving customer experiences.
We are seeking a highly motivated, organised and committed individual to fill the post of Exchequer Officer. The post-holder will be responsible for processing payments and providing advice, training and support to officers across the Council on corporate payment procedures and the use of associated systems. The post holder will also be required to supervise the Exchequer Assistants within the team.
With a commitment to providing high quality customer service you should have a high standard of IT literacy, the ability to work accurately under pressure. Experience of financial systems is an advantage and. We are looking for candidates with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to manage competing priorities, with the ability to learn quickly and promote and embrace change. You should also be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to coach and mentor others to achieve shared goals for improvement and supervise workload of the Exchequer Assistants.
The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This post is based in Lancaster. We are currently operating flexible working arrangements with regards to work location, the postholder will be required to travel to our offices in Lancaster when and if required.
