Civic Events Administration Apprentice

Civic Events Administration Apprentice

Waltham Forest is an ambitious Borough. Driven by culture and the innate creativity of our residents, we have developed new and innovative ways to build our communities and increase social cohesion. Our ambition is to ensure all of our residents can enjoy a good quality life. This includes working with residents to tackle the inequalities they face. Our Council is relentlessly resident-focused, insight-led, digitally driven and commercially minded; a Council focussed on meeting the needs of our existing and future residents.

As a Civic Events Administration Apprentice, you will be learning how to provide high quality personal support in a civic and political environment. This is a fast-paced role working across all council services and activities, in a dynamic and influential team. No day will be the same and you will be at the heart of some of the most important events that represent the Borough including Remembrance Sunday, Civic Dinners, and Royal Visits to name a few. Your role will see you coordinating hospitality, invites and running orders, as well being integral to the wider support to the First Citizen of the Borough, the mayor. You do not need a background in events to undertake this role, just a willingness to learn, and an interest in tradition and ceremony.

Community and fellowship are at the heart of our Council. If you share our values and want to work in an environment that is trailblazing and collaborative, that has a strong track record of providing a variety of career pathways to support professional development, this is an exciting opportunity you should not miss. If you too, are ambitious and committed to delivering an excellent customer experience in a fast-paced vibrant and diverse Council, this is the role for you. The successful applicant will have:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of dealing with customers/residents/stakeholders
  • Relevant experience which demonstrates ability to undertake role.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant processes and systems and awareness of policy and procedure framework.
  • Good knowledge of service provided in own area and awareness of wider Council activities.
  • Good overall knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and achieve deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen interest in events management and support.
  • Numerate and accurate with attention to detail

The post holder will assist with projects for the Councillor Support Team and ensure relevant legislation, regulations and policies are complied with.
