Independent Audit Committee Member
Apply to be an Independent Audit Committee Member ensuring public confidence in the Council’s audit and corporate governance arrangements
We are looking for an independent Audit Committee Member to assist in providing review of the Council's governance, risk management, control frameworks and financial reporting processes at the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
About the Council
LB Richmond upon Thames is a sovereign council with its own members and decision making. The council has entered into innovative agreements to share staff, including a five Borough shared audit service.
About the role
The independent Audit Committee Member supports the work of the Audit, Standards and Statutory Accounts Committee to discharge its role effectively by providing advice and scrutiny on matters concerning the Council’s arrangements for audit, risk management, governance and control.
Attributes and experience
Successful candidates will demonstrate high ethical standards, a willingness to participate in meetings, the ability to take independent, unbiased and objective views and to examine evidence and complex documentation.
Experience of financial management would be helpful as would an understanding of governance issues and the general government environment. You should also have effective interpersonal skills and experience of working in a complex organisation.
Who should not apply
Please note that current and former (within the last 5 years) councillors, co-opted members or employees of Richmond Council or its shared staffing partner, Wandsworth Borough Council, or their close relatives, are not eligible to be appointed to this position. Payment
The Independent Audit Committee Member is not a salaried position but an allowance of £300 per annum is offered to those who wish to claim.
