Visiting Revenues Officer
About the role / service
Halton Borough Councils Finance Department are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic motivated and conscientious team player to the position of visiting Revenues Officer within the Council Tax team to deliver a professional and exceptional service to the public.
The Council Tax department collects over £70m of Council Tax on annual basis which helps fund a wide range of services. The ideal applicant will help support the dedicated team undertake work concerning the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax.
Your main role will be to process amendments to the Revenues systems, including changes in liability, discounts, premiums and exemptions and direct debit/instalment requirements, new properties, provisional bandings and disablement reductions.
You will be required to inspect properties, in relation to claims for discounts, exemptions and reductions in respect of domestic and non-domestic properties, and prepare reports and maintain records of visits made.
You will also be required to report to and process updates from the listing officer concerning new and altered properties as appropriate.

About you
You must be reliable, confident and able to work under pressure. You must have experience of dealing with customers in a busy environment and have excellent customer care skills.
You must have the ability and confidence to make appropriate decisions and possess a high level of written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Whilst it is desirable you have experience of working in a Revenues environment, it is not essential. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
Knowledge and experience of IT is required with the ability to work on your own initiative at various times.
The role will involve regular travel across the borough . Therefore, the post holder must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle. Where necessary, reasonable adjustments will be made in accordance with the Equality Act.
