HR Administrator

Hertsmere is in southern Hertfordshire just 13 miles from Central London and within the M25.  The Council Offices are based in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HR Administrator to join our small and friendly team.  If you are looking to develop a career in HR, this could be the perfect opportunity to get involved in a wide range of HR matters.

You will act as the first point of contact for all new starters, visitors, telephone and email enquiries and so will need to have excellent communication and customer service skills and demonstrate a welcoming and helpful approach.

Your main area of responsibility will be administering the recruitment process which will require you to be well-organised, able to work rapidly and accurately, with excellent time management skills.  You will develop a sound understanding of the Council’s HR policies and procedures and be able to explain these clearly both verbally and in writing to staff and managers.

The HR team works very closely and you will need to be flexible in your approach to teamwork and willing to learn and develop.  Having an aptitude for IT systems is a must, as our work is almost entirely paperless, You should be confident with Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to quickly grasp other specialised IT software packages.

You will have previous administration experience and will be able to demonstrate your ability to juggle a varied and high volume workload.  Experience in HR would be ideal, however full training will be provided as part of our career progression scheme.

For an informal discussion about this post please contact Clare Noble, HR Operations Manager on 0208 207 7475

The post is offered on a full time permanent basis (36 hours per week).  Benefits include 26 – 31 days annual leave (depending on the length of Local Government Service) plus one floating day per annum, local government pension scheme, flexible working hours (including the opportunity to take up to 2 days flexi leave per month), free car parking, free use of leisure facilities, cycle scheme and season ticket loans.  The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work two days per week from home.

Closing date:  5pm, Monday 20th March
