IT Service Transition Specialist

Do you enjoy working with people to support the implementation of changes? Do you understand what is required to transition an IT Project safely into live operation? Do you want to work as part of a supportive and forward-thinking team? Then the IT Service Transition Specialist position with SCC might be the perfect opportunity for you!

About the role

Working as part of the Service Transition team operating across the partnership between Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, our IT Transition Specialist will work on multiple proposed technical changes - including some exciting multi-million-pound enterprise class technology implementations - and assist Project Managers with the transitioning of Project work. The IT Service Transition Specialist role will also support the Change Manager and the Change Co-ordinators, in their capacity as professional lead.

The Service Transition team supports the smooth handover into the live environment of IT solutions that provide real organisation and community/social value, from those with specific requirements all the way through to strategic projects that span the whole Council or even the wider partnership. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

You will build relationships quickly and work with stakeholders and teams across the IT & Digital service, to ensure that solutions fit with our current IT landscape, are implemented without introducing risk, and are fully supportable. You will work closely with our IT Project Managers to support delivery and provide advice along the way.

You will be welcomed into an experienced, fun, and inclusive team who will support you every step of the way - from your first day all the way through to recommending looking at your first changes!

We will provide you with training associated to the IT Service Transition Specialist role (that you haven't already completed), and we will encourage you to actively seek out new opportunities to grow your skills and knowledge.

You will have access to a suite of applications to help you do your work, including Microsoft Teams, our collaboration platform on which we conduct and attend virtual meetings. We also offer the option to run meetings face to face at various Council sites.

About you

Reporting directly to the Principal Transition Consultant, you will have strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate. You will enjoy working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues. You will like working with lots of different stakeholders with diverse and (sometimes) complex requirements. You should understand the value of working for a local authority and have a commitment to providing public services.

Ideally, you'll be ITIL4® Managing Professional or ITIL3® Expert certified, with previous experience in a similar role. Or, you might have transferable skills that match our job description (link below).

We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our benefits page.

The job advert closes at 23:59 on 19/03/2032.

Interviews will take place week commencing 03/04/2023.

Interviews will take place via Microsoft Teams unless you request an in-person interview.
