The Post

We are looking to recruit an Environmental Monitoring Officer to join our Environmental Monitoring Team. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated specialist to undertake regulation of contaminated land sites; air pollution; air quality; and processes under the Environmental Permitting Regulations.

In addition, the post holder will undertake environmental land searches/enquiries and comment on planning application consultations with particular reference to issues of contaminated land, noise and air quality. Produce and update permits of processes under Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations, undertaking all duties associated with such and in the inspection and enforcement of those processes. Investigate the potential for contaminated land, utilising enforcement powers for remediation as appropriate.

The Person

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are looking to make a difference and contribute to the Borough's wellbeing with opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of residential and commercial settings; explore opportunities and take part in regular high-profile projects to improve the health and wellbeing of the Borough’s residents, businesses and visitors. Consideration will also be given to newly qualified EHOs with an interest in contaminated land or environmental protection and have signed up to the CIEH EHP pathway to registration with relevant experience.

To be successful you will need to have a professional qualification to undertake environmental monitoring, preferably in an environmental science related subject e.g. a Diploma/BSc/MSc in Environmental Health and/or EHRB registered with the CIEH or 2 years equivalent experience
