Trading Standards Officer

The Public Protection Partnership (PPP) is a partnership between West Berkshire Council and Bracknell-Forest Council delivering the Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Licencing functions across both Councils. In addition, we have a shared service with Wokingham Borough Council to deliver the Trading Standards Service meaning we serve over 450,000 residents and 10,000+ businesses.

Within PPP the Trading Standards function is within the Community and Trading Standards team and we work closely with our Environmental Health colleagues to deliver services to consumers and business so there are opportunities to work with colleagues in other professions to enhance work experiences.

The service is supported by an intelligence team, financial investigators and our own case management unit and there will be the opportunity to work in a variety of roles including investigations, audits and inspections and reactive work.

We are seeking a highly motivated Trading Standards Officer who holds the DTS, DCATS (70 points) or equivalent to join our team. The ideal candidate would have all round experience in all aspects of Trading Standards work and have food standards competency or be in a position where it could be obtained. You will also be competent in metrology.

The Authority is committed to personal and professional development so the successful candidate can further their development with us.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 29 days per annum rising to a maximum of 34 days.

We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.
