Technical Officer

Team: Housing Strategy & Implementation Team

Hours: Part-Time 18 hours per week

Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

Interview Date:  Week commencing 27/03/2023 (TBC) – this will take place via Microsoft Teams. This software is free for users.  If there is an issue with accessing this technology, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements prior to the interview.

More about the role:

Central Bedfordshire, with a newly adopted Local Plan and requirement to deliver 39,350 new homes, provides the opportunity to join an exciting Local Authority. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time position in the Council’s Housing Strategy and Implementation Team.

 

The role sits within a technical team who collectively monitor Local Plan policies and produce technical information relating to housing and commercial development within Central Bedfordshire.

 

The successful candidate will predominantly be responsible for undertaking monitoring of development within Central Bedfordshire, responding to data requests and queries, mapping and contributing towards the general work of the Housing Strategy and Implementation Team. You will be involved in technically complex workstreams which relate to monitoring the supply of housing and commercial floorspace and will contribute to the production of the Council’s Authority Monitoring Report and Housing Trajectory.

 

You will have GCSE maths grade C/4 or above, have significant experience in collecting and presenting data and have excellent working knowledge of MS Excel. A driving licence is essential. Experience in using geographical Information Systems (GIS) and a background in the planning or housing sectors will be an advantage.
