About Us

We are a borough like no other. We are a Council that is fast paced and dynamic in response to the hard times our people and borough face because of the Cost of Living emergency that impacts us disproportionality.

As London’s youngest and most diverse borough, we are also its fastest growing borough driving an innovative and ambitious anti-poverty and inclusive economy agenda that is anchored in Community Wealth Building as well as an organisation that is bravely taking real action in the face of the Climate Emergency.

At Newham, we are committed in driving our pioneering people-powered Council agenda where people and communities are at the forefront of what we do, and we celebrate our diversity as a statement of how great Newham is.

We have a strong reputation in developing ambitious long term strategies to big issues, from our Building a Fairer Newham Corporate Plan, Community Wealth Building and 50 Steps strategies to transformational services like Our Newham Work, Money & Skills, or our Employment Rights Hub.

About the Role

As a Performance and Business Intelligence Analyst, you will drive forward performance improvement working as part of a centralised corporate Performance and Business Intelligence service.  Key to your role will be producing insightful performance and business intelligence reports for senior council officers, the Mayor, Councillors and services.  You will be gathering data and supporting information to monitor the council’s priorities and to track progress towards delivery of the Building a Fairer Newham commitments.  You will also be leading on delivery of the council’s statutory data returns, working with services and external partners to ensure the council complies with its statutory duties.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates who have the analytical skills and expertise to drive forward performance improvement for one of the country's most innovative councils.  You will be excited and confident in working with council leaders, decision-makers and operational colleagues to develop business intelligence solutions.  We are looking for candidates who have a flair for data and who are comfortable using Excel and other data tools to produce informative insights.  Experience of working with PowerBI, though not essential would be welcome. Experience of working across a range of complex datasets is an advantage; as a central, corporate team, there are opportunities to get involved in analysis across the spectrum of services delivered by the council.  You will be able to balance the demands of working with data-led insights and delivering engaging products which are accessible, user-friendly and meaningful to the audience. We welcome applicants with knowledge and experience across the range of council services.

About Our Offer

  • 24 days annual leave to start plus 3 days Christmas Shut Down and Bank Holidays
  • Our HEART values and a positive, nurturing and collaborative work environment
  • Excellent transport links to the rest of the capital
  • Wellbeing service, leisure and discount benefits
