Children’s Social Care Practice Assistant

This is an exciting time to join Wokingham Borough Council as our well valued Practice Assistants become a permanent supplement to our children’s workforce to meet an increase in demand for our services and create innovative new teams and roles, using Signs of Safety as our practice framework.
Practice Assistants will work alongside and support our Children’s Social Workers, helping them to deliver excellent services and support to our most vulnerable children and young people. You will provide a wide range of support to a team of Social Workers, getting involved in everything from administration and coordination to supporting social work activity, enabling the Social Workers to spend more time with children and young people.

Main Accountabilities:
- To provide a full range of effective support to Social Workers to ensure that their tasks are completed within timescales.
- To support social workers in organising, preparing for and recording of various meetings.
- To maintain accurate and up to date case record to a high standard.
- To assist in ensuring children and families gain access to local support to meet their needs.
- To join Social Workers on visits to children and families where there is additional complexity, to facilitate productive and safe interactions.
