Grade 7  - £25,409 - £29,439 

Full Time - 37 Hours per week

Fixed Term until 31/03/2025

We’re looking for an experienced housing professional to join the Rough Sleeping and Substance dependency team.  You will be a key link between the project team and the council’s housing options service.

The Housing Solutions Specialist will work as part of the housing team to prevent homelessness and provide specialist support to those with substance misuse disorders to access and sustain accommodation.

As part of the Government’s commitment to address drug and alcohol related harm, the aim of this role will be to contribute to the creation a whole system approach and develop existing multi-agency partnerships which improve the outcomes for those affected by substance misuse and are at risk of rough sleeping.

The key outcomes of the project are to: 

  • To work closely with landlords to secure new accommodation in the private and social rented sectors.
  • To manage a caseload of vulnerable tenants with substance misuse disorders, supporting them to sustain their tenancies.
  • To work alongside the housing options team and other relevant services to identify suitable referrals
  • To assess referrals made to the housing service.
  • To provide structured support to enable vulnerable tenants to understand their responsibilities and support them to develop effective strategies to manage those responsibilities.
  • To carry out a risk assessment with each tenant that highlights any risks to themselves or others
