An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Land & Property as a Building Support Officer. This is a 6-month fixed term/secondment opportunity.
As a Building Support Officer, you will support the delivery of a comprehensive maintenance and facilities service and act as a point of contact for staff at Surrey County Council's main Corporate Buildings and Hubs. You will contribute to, support, and maintain a flexible and reliable quality Facilities Management service and ensure that satisfaction for both internal and external customers is continuously achieved and improved. The role is part of the onsite Facilities Management Team and is responsible for ensuring that building services and equipment remain operational, as well as providing a safe working environment for our staff, members and visitors.
Land & Property have responsibility for maintaining an extensive and diverse portfolio of investment, operational and non-operational property including office buildings, fire stations, land and schools, making sure our assets are working hard for us and providing fit for purpose premises for staff and customers. You will join a team of hard-working professionals focused on maintaining excellent levels of customer care and an organisation which you will be proud to work for.
The role is varied and includes:
- Providing customer facing services
- Supporting the operational running of the building
- Health and Safety compliance checks
- Basic Maintenance
- Overseeing contractors onsite
- Postal and Portage Duties
As a Building Support Officer, you will be in constant contact with a wide range of building users, both internally and externally. The role may require working on a shift pattern, covering reception duties and travel to other sites to provide cover during period of staff absence (holiday and sickness cover).
To be considered for interview you will need to have experience within a similar customer facing role, and your application will show evidence of:
- Enjoy being a team player with excellent people skills.
- A proven track record of providing excellent levels of customer services along with an ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- A knowledge and application of health and safety in an office environment.
- Competence in basic maintenance with DIY skills.
- Willingness and ability to work both outside and in plant/machinery rooms.
