Do you have an eye for detail and enjoy seeing a process through from start to finish?

If so, this is a great opportunity to join Hertfordshire Libraries’ Stock Services Team. As Stock Services Assistant you will be directly involved in ordering, receiving, and processing new items of stock, for libraries across Hertfordshire.

The Stock Service Team is based at Hertfordshire Libraries Central Stocks Unit along side other Support Services teams, including our Performing Arts Service and Library Support Driver teams.

As part of this small team, you will assist in providing the acquisition, cataloguing, and inter-library loans service for all public libraries in Hertfordshire.  You will also assist with the maintenance of the Library Management System databases and the management of the county reserve stock.

Working times will be office hours Monday to Friday, though occasional working outside office hours may be required.

This role deals with processing of new stock deliveries including books, audio items and magazines. Deliveries of new stock arrive daily and as such it will require you to have an awareness of manual handling practises with the ability to apply these in your work.

We’ll need you to have excellent customer service skills, dealing with enquiries from library staff and external suppliers.  An eye for detail to be able to ensure work is carried out to a high standard is essential.  You’ll be competent in Microsoft packages. Full training on our own Library Management IT system will be provided.

This role plays a key part in making a difference to the residents of Hertfordshire; Every day we provide services to libraries across Hertfordshire that ensure people can access and enjoy stock, services and events to enrich their lives.
