Housing Co-Op Officer

6 Month Contract - 35 hours per week

CDS is on a mission!

We are a small housing association with nearly 1,000 properties across London and the South East and also provide housing management and backend services for many independent housing co-ops. What sets us apart from other social housing providers is that our roots are in co-operative housing and our mission is to make community- and resident-led housing mainstream.

We are looking for a Housing Co-Op Officer to manage and oversee all of the day-to-day aspects of our service agreement with one of our client co-ops. They are an independent housing co-operative and you’ll work as their Co-Op officer. You’ll provide some services like tenancy management and governance support directly, as well as overseeing other services like finance that are provided by back office teams at CDS. You’ll own our service to the Co-Op, liaising with colleagues and acting as an internal client at CDS to make sure they always get what they need from us in the way they need it.

You will relish your role in helping your Co-Op understand their obligations as a landlord, ensuring they are safe, well-governed and well-managed at all times. As a natural enabler, you will make sure your Co-Op fully understand all relevant laws and regulations, so that they can make well-informed decisions about risk. You will pre-empt their needs, help them make informed decisions and build a supportive and obliging relationship between them and CDS with appropriate levels of support and challenge. You will impress your Co-Op, enhance our reputation and help grow our business.

We’re looking for someone who has a genuine passion for customer service and the ability or willingness to learn to advise confidently on landlord services, governance and Health & Safety issues. With excellent communication skills and a good eye for detail, you will have a track record of being reliable, organised and consistent, with good record-keeping skills and the ability to analyse performance data and communicate it meaningfully to to others.

You’ll be diplomatic, socially aware and skilled at building relationships. You’ll like staying ahead of the curve, planning what’s coming up next and able to heading off problems before they arise. You’ll be pro-active and persistent and actively seek responsibility and accountability. With confidence and aptitude working with IT systems, you’ll have charisma and gravitas to develop and provide training on governance, compliance and housing management and be willing to learn new skills, try new ways of doing things and to step in when a colleague needs help.

Apart from the opportunity to make your mark at CDS and positively impact the lives of many people, we offer a competitive salary, bonus scheme and generous benefits. We take our employee engagement seriously and will invest in your development and training.

We are committed to looking for all kinds of talent to build a diverse workforce that represents the people we serve and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
