More about this employerPlanning Investigations Officer (Development Management)
An opportunity has arisen to join Tunbridge Wells BC’s successful and respected Planning Enforcement Team. You will be part of a team that acts as custodians of the Borough ensuring that Planning Control is regulated.
The role is responsible for the investigation of alleged breaches of planning control and recommending a course of action from no breach to taking formal enforcement action. These breaches will range from household extensions to checking compliance with permissions for large housing developments. The Borough is a mix of urban and rural with a large proportion of protected landscape and this adds to the variety that you will encounter daily.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience of resolving disputes. You will be able to manage, organise and prioritise your own caseload independently and work closely with colleagues in the Development Management Team as well as the wider Planning Service. The role would be ideal for someone with some planning experience looking to broaden their knowledge of planning through the technical knowledge and experience that enforcement cases provide or someone who has an investigative background and experience of evidence gathering and preparation of cases for prosecution.
You must have a full driving licence and access to a car and be physically able to carry out site inspections, which may be in rural areas and involve rough terrain.
