Financial Assessment Officer
We have an exciting employment opportunity to recruit a Financial Assessment Officer to work in the Service Improvement and Support Team.
You will be an enthusiastic, committed team player, understanding best practice and customer contact procedures with experience in a Housing Benefit / Council Tax Support. You will effectively respond to enquiries received by letter, telephone and electronically. You will be able to demonstrate a good standard of numeracy and literacy, work using your own initiative and prioritise conflicting deadlines, manage your time efficiently with good communication skills.
If you have experience of other welfare benefits and discretionary awards and enjoy working with the public then this is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team focused on high performance and working to challenging financial and operational targets.
You will need to understand and be responsive to customer’s needs, always presenting a positive and professional image to the customer, whilst ensuring effective engagement with vulnerable and challenging customers. You will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
You will be responsible for dealing with complex Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support assessments. Knowledge of Council Tax liability, discounts, disregards and exemptions is desirable.
The Service Improvement and Support Team takes on various projects that require a financial assessment and may not be directly related to Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support. As a team member, you will be required to learn quickly and be flexible in adapting to new types of work to support the Financial Assessment Service as a whole.
Testing of basic Maths and English will be part of the shortlisting process.
