Salary NS11 £34,723 to £36,298 pay award pending effective 01/04/23*

Our people are our most valuable asset, and we know that developing our employees is vital to the success of our organisation. We have recently implemented our first Workforce Development Strategy, a 4-year plan to ensure we are able to meet the changing demands that are likely to be placed upon us over the coming years so that we can continue to provide quality services to our residents. As part of our commitment, we have created a new role of Learning and Development Officer within our busy HR Team to take the operational lead in delivering key elements of the strategy.

This is an exciting role focussing on developing on our current core learning offer and shaping our future activity to meet the needs of the organisation and the residents we serve. As the successful candidate you will adopt a business partnering approach to work with Managers across the organisation to identify appropriate learning interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of learning to ensure value for money. You will also procure, design and deliver training, apprenticeships, management development activities and other initiatives to develop the skills and knowledge of the workforce.

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers.  We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events.    From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to our Hug in a Mug initiative, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme, flexi scheme, hybrid working, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave, lifestyle benefits platform, free car parking** and £10/mth gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

For an informal chat or more information, please contact Sarah Lawrie, Business Manager HR & Training on 07753 291 293.

*Current pay offer £1,925 per annum on all scale points, still under negotiation

**Free parking is valid until 31st July 2024.
