Join an exciting Legal Service

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

A number of new posts in a variety of disciplines are available within the Council’s Legal Service.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Child Care Advocate to join us in Brent’s impressive Civic Centre, located right next to Wembley Stadium and just a 12 minute train ride from Baker Street and a 21 minute train ride from Kings Cross.  So if you are a skilled professional looking for challenging and rewarding work in a demanding but supportive environment, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.

The Post

In our Children’s Care team we are looking for a Senior Advocate specialising in Childcare to attend court or tribunals or public inquiries as a Senior Advocate and in particular, conduct high quality advocacy in the High Court, Family Court, including all hearings up to trial and appeals and including complex hearings.

The Person

We require an admitted Solicitor / Barrister / Cilex qualified, with at least three years’ experience in public child care law. Strong advocacy skills are required, as is the ability to communicate complex legal advice concisely and clearly. This role will require the post holder to work in a pressurised environment, working to tight time scales - therefore candidates should be robust and commercially minded.

Closing Date: 30 May 2023 (23:00)
