Vessel Engineer

There’s never been a better time to join the iconic Mersey Ferries. We need a Vessels Engineer to become a part of our team at a really exciting time. We’re looking for the right person who shares our values and can bring their experience and skills to make a difference.

As a Vessel Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining all aspects of the engineering function including the engine room, ancillary machinery control room and equipment across a 24/7 shift pattern. The role is key in ensuring availability of Mersey Ferries services through effective daily maintenance and planned maintenance during in and out of water surveys. You will complete and maintain records in line with Marine Coastguard Authority (MCA) requirements and working with external contractors and stakeholders.

You will play an active role in the delivery of several projects and continually work with colleagues to improve service. You will work closely with the Marine Engineering Superintendent as well as a wider team all committed to the world-famous Mersey Ferries.

This year is an exciting one for the Liverpool City Region, as we host Eurovision as well as other exciting events such as the Golf Open Championship, where we will welcome tourists from all over the world. We want someone who is as excited about the future as us, who shares our vision for excellence in marine engineering and opportunities to grow with us.

Working for us means competitive pay, a generous Local Government Pension scheme and annual leave entitlement, plus role specific benefits such as 20% shift enhancement and payment of relevant professional fees. You will also get free travel around the City Region, access to Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing and development initiatives and more.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is committed to having a workforce that is representative of the communities we serve.  To this end, we particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Backgrounds, who have a disability or are members of the Armed Forces, Reservists or Veterans.
