Drainage Engineers

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 x permanent Drainage Engineers to join the Coastal Engineers and Flood Prevention Service at Arun District Council. The team are responsible for providing professional engineering advice, assistance and expertise to; members of the public, businesses, council officers, external bodies and council members.  Drainage Engineers work collaboratively with the team to reduce and manage flood risk through the technical review of planning applications, implementation of capital and revenue schemes, and joint working with other local authorities, government bodies and water companies.

 

As a Career Grade Engineer your primary responsibilities will be to review the technical merit of Surface Water Drainage proposals on planning applications and assist with the management operations of the Council’s Land Drainage function under the Land Drainage Act 1991/Flood & Water Management Act 2010.  The workload is varied, with the opportunity to develop skills by undertaking; technical reviews, site investigations, surveying, design, contract preparation, effective procurement, land drainage enforcement, Geographic Information System (GIS) cataloguing and Computer Aided Design (CAD).
