About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF SERENA’S VISION

Housing Services in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where innovative and open-minded people bring everything to the cause. Even expertise from surprising places.

Take Serena. She is an absolute force of nature at the heart of our Church Street regeneration. And she puts the residents first in everything. Serena’s vision is clear. Regeneration isn’t just about bricks and concrete. It’s about communities. It’s about the environment. It’s about the lives of people and how they feel about where they call home. Serena is their advocate, making sure residents’ voices aren’t just heard, but drive the changes we’re making. The future is safe in her hands.

The Role:

As a Senior Property Surveyor you can make your own powerful contribution at the heart of our high profile Housing Services. Leading a small team, you’ll oversee a range of building and maintenance projects - from repairs to refurbishments.

Your property surveying responsibilities will span a portfolio of around 5,000 homes. From the structure and fabric of buildings, to internal and communal areas and estate grounds, you’ll make a huge difference to our residents’ wellbeing.

At Westminster, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to help us creatively shape and deliver services in all kinds of areas, including the management of legal disrepair and leaseholder engagement. Crucially, you will play an active role in delivering our ambitious carbon reduction targets by managing works within homes and supporting vulnerable residents.

Along the way, you will foster a culture of high performance within your team, and you’ll build great working relationships with a host of colleagues and service providers. In particular, you’ll work closely with our newly formed leak detection team to dynamically target repair demand and identify stock investment, so we can reduce ongoing repairs. And you’ll meet with partners, ward councillors and residents to resolve issues, keep services connected, and ensure homes are kept to the highest standard.

You will help us make sure Westminster is recognised as the number one provider of housing services in the UK. In return for your commitment, you’ll enjoy our support to develop and grow through training and mentoring.

About You:

Qualified with a technical degree relating to the built environment, you’ll either be a member of a relevant professional organisation such as MRICS or MCIOB, or you’ll have a clear plan for achieving this status. You’ll bring to the role a substantial track record of relevant professional achievement. This should include managing repair and maintenance services in residential buildings, as well as managing and administering contracts for repair and maintenance.

We’ll expect you to be an innovative thinker who can look beyond typical local government solutions to challenges, and turn strategic goals into operational plans. Great stakeholder management skills are vital. Crucially, you are also a supportive leader with the ability to empower, motivate and develop a diverse and inclusive team.

What We Offer:
