About the role
We are looking for a Safeguarding in Education local authority lead, here in North Somerset. Based in the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who represent children’s statutory agencies assessing safeguarding notifications and referrals regarding children aged 0-18. You will work proactively with schools and settings to ensure they have an up-to-date, robust and comprehensive understanding of safeguarding. This will include assessing sector confidence and competence and closing knowledge and skills gaps, developing, providing and coordinating safeguarding training and professional development programs. You will need to collate and review schools and settings annual S11 self-assessment.
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
About you
You will have an approved professional qualification relevant to one of the following: education, youth and community work, learning and development, health or social care, as well as practical experience in one (or more than one) of these fields. You will have experience of working with the most complex and challenging areas of the service and evidence of self-development in this area, including a comprehensive knowledge of legislation and professional codes of practice for the service area. Your knowledge and understanding of safeguarding protocols will be up to date and you will be able to confidently plan and deliver training for staff in schools.
