Workshop Technician

This is an exciting opportunity to join Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Operational Support team with our mission to keep Hertfordshire’s firefighters equipped and ready to respond to operational incidents across the county.

Operational Support is a key area of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue’s Technical Services department. They hold the responsibility for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of firefighting and rescue equipment alongside breathing apparatus and ancillary equipment to enable front line crews to provide an effective operational response.

This is a fast paced and often reactive environment, dependant on operational incidents, therefore you’ll need to be able to work under pressure, be able to work as part of a team and be extremely well organised, taking a pro-active approach to your workload.

Typically, you will be:

Ensuring that HFRS operational equipment is inspected & serviced at the correct intervals and is fit for operational use.

Using computerised systems for maintaining records of all equipment inspections, tracking, tracing and managing of assets.

Servicing, maintaining and repairing HFRS equipment both at Operational Support Workshop’s and other locations as necessary i.e. fire stations and operational incidents.

The movement, transport and carrying of equipment, as required, within the area covered by HFRS.

Experience and competency in mechanics and/or engineering is essential.

We are looking for you to hold a full UK driving licence. LGV driving licence is desirable.

Once in post, competency certificates must be gained to service, repair and maintain various Fire Service specific equipment.

This is a rewarding role and an opportunity to be part of a prestigious public serving organisation renowned for excellence. If this sounds like an opportunity for you to serve our community we would love to hear from you!
