Newham recently established Business Systems Management & Information (BSMI) directorate, and you will work closely with colleagues and residents to lead strategic change projects within the Inclusive Economy, Housing, Environment and Sustainable Transport sphere.
You will be joining at a critical time for Newham with a refreshed manifesto to ‘get things done’ for our residents, gaining the opportunity to shape how the organisation approaches change; helping us to work in a more agile and people focussed way.
The team is focussed on building an innovative and cutting-edge service; that tackles substantial challenges collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
About the Job
You are to develop the Business Systems Management & Information into a professional, people centred service that makes the most of the council's technology, using the intelligence it produces to support staff to make better decisions, meanwhile delivering value for money.
To work collaboratively with stakeholders, gathering requirements, understanding impact and balancing priorities to create a product development programme that maximises the business benefits delivered by the council’s application architecture.
You will be focused on the following service areas:
- Housing and Repairs Service
- Private Sector Housing
- Enforcement & Safety
- Planning & Regeneration
- Community Wealth Building
- Environmental Services
- Sustainable Transport
The council understands the importance of technology for improving services and reducing costs. This can only be achieved if BSMI staff understand their services specifically. Technical skills are critical, but equally important is the ability to apply that technical discipline to the service areas above, listening to service managers, and working collaboratively to support and improve the services within our remit.
About You
We are looking to make long term, sustainable change. You will have demonstrable experience of delivering on a range of key policies and strategies, ensuring that projects of change, innovation and transformation make an positive impact and last.
Experience of delivering change and innovative initiatives across a broad range of services in a complex environment will be second nature.
You will be able to positively engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in change processes and have successfully delivered large-scale operational saving initiatives whilst driving service improvement.
Inspiring innovation and partnership working you will benefit from a collaborative management style, with the ability to engage, develop and drive services to achieve operational excellence, increasing efficiency and productivity.
Ultimately, we are looking for you to embrace change, seize opportunities and disrupt what is normal, to deliver positive outcomes for both colleagues & our residents.
