Procurement and Contract Management plays a vital role in ensuring that the Council continues to deliver high quality and value for money front line services to its residents. With continued and increasing austerity the ability for the Council to secure both value for money and best value through its procurement and commissioning activities has never been more important. The Council buys a wide range of goods, works and services annually and the efficient procurement of these contracts ensures best value is continuously achieved.

What’s the role?

The Procurement & Contracts Manager is a pivotal role within our Procurement team working across our Directorates. Reporting to the Strategic Procurement and Contracts Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the successful procurement of fit for purpose solutions, supporting effective contract management of existing and new services, and managing a team of procurement experts.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement to manage and support the Council’s procurement arrangements across a range of services including IT.
  • Experience of contract management matters related to procurement practices ensuring compliance with procurement procedures, standing orders and financial regulations, including the management of commercial risks.
    Able to establish positive relationships with senior managers that generate mutual confidence and respect.
  • Resilient and positive attitude
  • A strong and motivated individual with energy and credibility who commands the confidence of Senior managers, employees, partners and stakeholders.

Location:

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
