Independent Remuneration Panel

Wyre Council are looking to recruit two residents who will join the council’s Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP).

The panel, may be required to meet up to three times a year at the Civic Centre. The Panel makes recommendations to the Council on the allowances which should be paid to Elected Members. 

There is no formal application form for the role and anyone interested must submit a short letter to the Council by Monday 31 July 2023 explaining why they are interested in the position, any relevant qualifications and experience they have and what they feel they can contribute to the panel.

A shortlist of candidates will be determined by officers with interviews commencing the 14 August 2023.

Successful applicants will be recommended for approval by the full Council. The usual term of office is 4 years, with the new panel members being in post by November 2023 ready for the first review. These are voluntary positions; however, appointed panel members are able to claim mileage and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.

The appointment is not open to any person who has been an Elected Member or officer of Wyre Council within the last five years or a person who is a relative or close friend of an Elected Member or Officer of Wyre Council.
