Want to be part of a service that affects all 1.2million of Hertfordshire’s residents and the thousands of people that travel through the county each day? If you are motivated by a fast-paced working environment and have great time management and communication skills, then come and play a key part in supporting our Highways communications team.

You can play a part in Hertfordshire’s vision to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier county.

Our Highways Communications team is looking for a Senior Support Officer, to join and support the team in the delivery of its complex and varied communications programme.

Sitting in the wider Highways Customer Journey team, responsibilities will include overseeing the communications planning dashboard and supporting the team on a range of tasks, helping in the delivery of campaign and communication activities.

This is a brand-new role within the service and team so there is a great opportunity for you to shape the role and make it your own.

This is a fast-paced environment; tasks may change at the last minute and urgent tasks may need to take priority. You’ll need to be able to work under pressure, be extremely well organised and take a pro-active approach to your workload.

A typical day includes monitoring social media customer engagements and coordinating responses. Other elements include the development of the communications dashboard (within MS Teams) and editing content on the public facing website.

We’ll need you to have a proven track record of delivering excellent communication within your previous roles, as well as being able to ensure your work is carried out to a high standard. Ideally you will have brilliant organisational skills and a strong understanding of social media and how to maximise its potential. You’ll be competent in standard Microsoft programmes and willing to learn new software programmes.

These include but are not limited to: Contensis, SmartSurvey, Hootsuite, Canva.

In this new and exciting role, you can develop and grow your knowledge of communications and make a real difference to the over 1 million diverse residents of Hertfordshire. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, we look forward to receiving your application!
