Teaching Assistant
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our school. The successful candidate will be passionate in making a difference for our children. This is why they came into teaching; this is why we want them to be part of our team. With this in mind, we are looking to recruit a colleague with both the commitment and relevant skills to embody our culture and help to raise standards. They will join the school at an exciting point in its trajectory; we look forward to having you on this journey.
Our School
Brakenhale School is a school where we all strive for excellence. We are a high performing 11-18 secondary school with a resolute determination to accelerate students’ life chances. Our team approach to everything we do will enable this. Our new Headteacher joined us last academic year. In his first year, there has been a refinement of some of our policies, procedures and structures. We have, for example, refined the Behaviour Code to enable disruption-free learning. This also includes centralising detentions, which was not the case before. This means that teachers can further focus on their core purpose: their teaching. Also, under his leadership, we have begun to simplify our teaching and learning rubric with a focus on teachers mastering elements of their teaching, bespoke to them, in order to raise the outcomes for all students. These are just two of the ways he has worked with senior leaders and teachers to further develop our school. As a result, we are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to join us who is eager to be part of this journey. As a team, we will ensure that our vision of increasing the life chances for our students continues. Furthermore, Brakenhale School is part of the high achieving Greenshaw Learning Trust (GLT) where the support and guidance is of a high quality. An Ofsted inspection in January 2019 graded the school as ‘good’ overall. Deservingly, areas were also awarded as ‘outstanding’. We are extremely proud of what we do and often talk of ‘refinement’ as the mechanism to make us even better. As a secondary school serving the local community, we had over 500 preferences for 210 Year 7 places for September 2022. Families want to send their child to our school; we are proud of this.
What we offer
You will be an excellent teacher in your own right. You will also be open to development and coaching for not only yourself but to develop those around you. As part of GLT, you will be open to opportunities to develop as an individual within the school but also across the trust itself. There are a number of subjects and leadership networks that operate across GLT which offer professional development with a real focus on pedagogy and leadership. Also, the value of being part of our team should not be underestimated. Joining Brakenhale will mean that you will be part of a supportive and dedicated group of staff who will invest in your professional development.
Application process
The deadline for applications is 9am on 22nd September 2023. Interviews will take place as soon as possible. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted soon after application.
