Technical Support Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our busy team which provides technical and administrative support to the Planning Department.

Duties will include the technical checking, verifying and registering of planning applications as well as general administrative duties such as scanning, downloading electronic applications and logging information onto our data base. You will be required to liaise with our customers in order to process their applications and also deal with general enquiries about planning. You will provide telephone and reception cover when needed.

Experience of applying legislation and working accurately is essential as is the ability to assess applications against an agreed validation criteria. Experience of dealing with the public and the ability to explain complex matters clearly is also needed. The post holder must have experience of working in a team environment and have a common sense approach to prioritising their own workload and be willing to adapt to help deliver the team’s wider workload. The ability to remain calm in a busy environment and a positive attitude to embracing change and problem solving is vital. 

Full training will be given, although experience of working in planning and a knowledge of validation legislation and interpreting legislation would be an advantage.
