There’s more than one reason why we believe Central Bedfordshire is a great place to live and work. Our attractive market towns and beautiful villages surrounded by stunning countryside, all boosted by a prime location, great transport links and a high performing economy are all part of what makes us great.

We work hard to enable Central Bedfordshire to grow and thrive in a safe and sustainable way.  We want to make our area a great place to live and work, and somewhere companies choose to invest.

This is an opportunity for an partially experienced Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control team and to help deliver the Council’s Building Control duties with safe and compliant buildings. Applicants should be able to meet the requirements for registration with the Regulator and be working towards the most appropriate grade of forthcoming Building Control Inspector registration.  The work involves the range of building control duties to deal with varied projects in urban and rural locations around the Council area. We offer a hybrid working environment with a blend of local office hubs, site work and home working. This role at Surveyor level works closely with colleagues, less experienced team members, our regulatory partners and our applicants and deals with regulatory compliance, enforcement, and all aspects of Building Regulations.

You will ideally have a degree (or equivalent qualification and experience) in Building Control Surveying or a related subject and be a member of a relevant professional institute and have building control experience and strong communication skills and can show experience and evidence of working on a range of projects. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements, but there is an expectation that the postholder will be able to regularly, probably daily, be able to visit sites across the CBC area.

As well as joining a friendly, dedicated, and hardworking team you will have access to numerous benefits, including:

  • A hybrid working arrangement giving you the option to work from home and access any CBC office location. We recognise and value the importance of supporting our employees to balance their home and work life and to be able to work in the most efficient way.
