Technical / Production Manager (Epsom Playhouse)
Epsom Playhouse Theatre has an opportunity for an enthusiastic, passionate, and committed Technical Manager to deliver effective backstage and technical functions to all areas of the venue.
You should already be an experienced technician who possesses technical theatre qualification/s or demonstrable experience within this area as well as experience in the management and monitoring of health and safety in a similar environment. You will have a good working knowledge of lighting, sound, media presentation and stage management including set get-ins, with specialised knowledge in at least one of these. Furthermore, you will require the competence and skill to train other members of staff or hirers in the use or operation of technical stage equipment and systems. The ideal candidate would be experienced in promoting a live events venue and have a good working knowledge of current sound and lighting systems. You will have great attention to detail, excellent co-ordination and calendar management skills and be an approachable, professional individual. We need someone who can meet and greet new users, manage the booking of events in our venue and provide technical assistance to external users. You will assist in recruitment and management of additional casual technicians to support larger events.
Good communication skills are crucial as is the ability to prioritise both your own and your team’s workload, calmly and effectively, to meet the needs of the venues schedule. The ability to interpret and adapt designs for stage sets to ensure the highest standards considering resources and staffing levels available are essential to this role.
Due to the nature of this role, we need someone who is fit, healthy and able to undertake strenuous lifting safely using lifting aids where required.
This is a full-time role and requires a flexible approach to working hours and days which will include evenings and weekends. We operate a Time of In Lieu (TOIL) system for additional hours worked to be agreed with your Line Manager.
We look forward to receiving your application. For further details please go to www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/careers or contact Linda Scott on 01372 732487
