Head of Regeneration, Investment, and Jobs

About Ealing

Ealing is a world class borough within a world class city. On the doorstep of Heathrow, home to the UK’s largest regeneration zone at Old Oak and Park Royal, and hosting five new Elizabeth Line stations, the borough has unrivalled connectivity. This means the borough has huge potential for good growth, regeneration, and investment at a scale of regional and national significance. Ealing’s seven towns, each with their own unique identity, are already supporting a genuine community-led approach to regeneration. The borough also accommodates London’s largest reservoir of industrial land and some of London’s most significant manufacturing businesses, which puts Ealing at the forefront of growing and attracting multiple high growth sectors to help transform West London’s economy and create tens of thousands of new jobs. This combined with award winning parks linked by the Grand Union canal network and one of the country’s most diverse and skilled populations, makes Ealing a great place to work, live and play.

About the post and you

This is newly created post within a new cross-cutting Economy & Sustainability Directorate (read more here).  With the support of fresh and ambitious leadership, you would have an excellent opportunity to expand and consolidate your career by operating across an extensive peer group and diverse range of services. Reporting to the Assistant Director for the newly formed Regeneration, Economy & Skills department, this is a prominent and strategic role within the organisation. You would lead on high value and complex master-planning, workspace and meanwhile use strategies to accelerate the council’s new approach to community-led and jobs-led regeneration. Framed by a hugely ambitious inward investment programme (read more here), you would be responsible for supporting one or more significant growth sectors and coordinate multiple relationships with large businesses and employers across the borough to help them grow and create new jobs.

You would also play a strategic role in supporting the Local Planning Authority in the development of Ealing’s new Local Plan to help unlock 20,000 new homes (including 4,000 genuinely affordable homes by 2026), 10,000 new well-waged jobs and help shape strategic and transformational planning proposals. Working closely with property and capital project teams you would also unlock the full socioeconomic potential of council assets, augmented by land acquisitions and site assembly, and lead the negotiation of development agreements and JVs to deliver jobs-led regeneration opportunities.

As a clear and confident communicator, you would thrive in a fast-paced, demanding and complex environment whilst offering clear and well-evidenced and balanced advice to satisfy multiple stakeholders.  You would be influential and agile, able to identify opportunities for service enhancement, commercialisation, and collaborative working.

Does this sound like you? Come join team Ealing and build a real, lasting career legacy!
