Financial Analyst

The salary scale for this position is £38,746 - £42,053 per annum based on a 36-hour working week. Part time hours can also be considered and the salary would be pro-rata accordingly.

The role is based at Woodhatch Place, 11 Cockshot Hill, Reigate, RH2 8EF with flexible working from other offices or home supported and encouraged.

Surrey County Council is the largest employer in Surrey. Our organisation is split across a diverse range of directorates and services spanning the entire county. The Financial Analyst role sits within Finance but works closely with colleagues in other services, with a particular focus on supporting the Highways & Transport, Environment and Infrastructure Directorate and Surrey Fire & Rescue Service.

As an Analyst you will ensure the smooth operation of the financial management cycle including monthly budget monitoring, reporting and year-end closing and reporting. You will also conduct varied financial analysis, presenting results and recommendations to help support decision making.

This role provides a lot of interaction with non-finance staff, where you will provide key insight and advice to the services you support, therefore the ability to build relationships and demonstrate strong communication skills will be essential.

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will need to clearly evidence (with examples where relevant) the following:

  • Fully-qualified accounting Technician or actively studying for the qualification
  • Proficient in the use and interpretation of financial data with good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work successfully in a professionally independent and autonomous manner, managing time effectively and adhering to deadlines

The job advert closes at 23:59 on 26.11.2023.

Interviews will take place on week commencing 11/12/2023.

From flexible working to job sharing (where possible) we are committed to providing a healthy work life balance. A laptop and mobile will be supplied if applicable to your role. You will benefit from 26 days annual leave, rising to 28 days after 2 years' service, a generous local government salary related pension, as well as the option to join our car lease scheme.
