Planning Technical Officer (maternity cover)
Working as part of the team supporting Development Management you will play an important role assisting in the processing of planning applications, appeals, enforcement cases and Tree Preservation Orders, retrieving information from hard copy and computer-based maps, distributing information and using a variety of computer systems. Your role will involve a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, and you may be called upon to attend to our customers at Reception.
You may have prior experience and understanding of the development management environment, but you must have the ability to learn to answer technical enquiries from the public, and an ability to work with maps and IT systems.
You will also need to be able to communicate clearly, orally and in writing; understand and adapt quickly to a variety of tasks; and be able to read and interpret maps. An approachable manner and flexible attitude are essential. The work is enjoyed most by those who are able to work in an organised and methodical way, largely unsupervised. A clean current driving licence is required. We operate a hybrid working arrangement however there will be a requirement for office attendance frequently dependent upon the needs of the service.
