Our Revenues and Benefits Service is critical to our future success as it facilitates the billing and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates as well as the assessment of benefit claims - ensuring we achieve positive outcomes in a sensitive way. You will supervise a large team that is responsible for the recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates and Overpaid Housing Benefit, helping to deliver excellence in customer service and debt recovery. As part of this you will be involved in the development, delivery and review of policies and practices in connection with the team and division.
You will set high standards and see they’re delivered on, as well as manage and motivate the team. Part of your role will be to monitor team members’ performance to ensure that the high standards we set are met. You will manage formal complaints and resolve issues efficiently.
You will have extensive experience of debt recovery particularly relating to council tax and business rates. Previous supervisory experience is essential to allow you to bring the best out of the team members to allow them to find their greatness, and to allow us to provide the best customer experience in dealing with residents with debt issues in an appropriate manner, whilst also ensuring that we achieve excellent collection rates. You will be highly skilled in multi-tasking ,as well as working in a fast paced debt collection environment.
As the Revenues Team Leader you will work towards being authorised as a Court Officer and will represent the Authority by presenting evidence in the Magistrates Court for cases of non-payment of council tax and business rates.
