We are seeking a self-motivated finance professional who is looking for a challenging role and to further develop their skills. The successful candidate will be part of a forward thinking and dynamic team which is organised around business themes in order to provide an effective, flexible financial management and accounting service to inform financial decisions for the Council.
To provide professional financial advice and information to stakeholders which informs and influences financial decision making for various departments across the Council.
Two of the roles will be within the Housing & Adults Social Services (HASS) finance team, which provides a financial management support service to departments within Adults Social Care, Public Health, and Homelessness.
The other role will be based in the Resources finance team, which deals with revenue monitoring for the Resources department, as well as assisting with the forecasting and reporting of Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Subsidy.
Key elements of the roles include:
Preparing budgets, monitoring and forecasts
Building, developing and maintaining effective working relationships
Supporting the completion of statutory financial accounts
Ensuring adherence with the Council’s and division’s policies and procedures
Providing advice and analysis on the financial consequences of business decisions and evaluation of service development options
Completion of financial and statistical returns, including Freedom of Information requests
Reconciling various financial systems
Qualifications, skills and experience sought:
Management accounting experience
AAT qualified or equivalent or relevant experience working at this level
Excellent financial and analytical skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and financial systems
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer focus
