Maternity cover for 9 months

A 9 month maternity contract has arisen in the management accounting team as assistant accountant with specific responsibilities for Financial Accounting and Tax.
Experience in management accounting is essential and knowledge in the Housing sector would be an advantage.
What you will be doing
-Reconcile balance sheet accounts as required in accordance with the month end time table and ensure errors are identified and rectified in a timely and accurate manner
-Assisting in the preparation of budgets, re-forecasts and management accounts
-Complete accurate working papers to support figures used in the financial statements
-Keep organised filing to ensure documentation can be easily found
-Assist with tasks required for the successful completion of the statutory accounts
-Account for items found on reconciliations in the correct manner
-Communicate effectively with colleagues in accounts payables, accounts receivables, treasury, management accounting and external contacts to ensure the speedy resolution of issues
-Produce performance management information as required
-Process month end journals

Working with people:
-Work with managers and colleagues within the Financial Services team to determine the parameters of service delivery and customer service protocols for your own function; then contribute to them accordingly
-Communicate proactively and effectively with colleagues within the teams you are serving to ensure shared understanding and, where necessary, resolution of relevant business issues
-Regularly contribute towards evaluation of alternative ways of working to deliver sustained efficiency savings
-Contribute to a coaching approach that encourages solution orientation, innovation and creativity to achieve the optimum level of customer satisfaction
-Encourage colleagues to work with and learn from each other
-Work with managers and colleagues to understand workflow to ensure delivery against the targets of the team
-Communicate effectively to ensure issues are raised as quickly as possible to ensure they are resolved in a satisfactory timescale .
Skills and experience you need
-CCAB part-qualified accountant or commitment to studying a professional qualification
-Experience of completing complex reconciliations
-Experience of preparing either financial or management accounts
-Understanding of the General Ledger
-Understanding of the construction of a Chart of Accounts
-Experience of using Oracle Financials
-Experience of working in a Registered Social Landlord environment
-Strong communication skills
-Ability to create positive relationships with finance and non-finance staff
-Knowledge of FRS102
-Knowledge of the Housing SORP 2014
-Experience of the year end process

-You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills
-You have a "can do" attitude and a positive approach
