We are looking for an experienced leader to join us asService Manager. The Gateway Resettlement Programme is the UK’s humanitarian refugee resettlement programme. Funded by the Home Office and European Commission, the programme provides protection to some of the world’s most vulnerable refugees who are resettled in the UK on a co-ordinated basis. The Gateway Service works across Greater Manchester with key Local Authority and housing provider stakeholders.
As the Gateway Resettlement Service Manageryou will work with the Gateway team and the Gateway Partnership to ensure the best quality support to refugees arriving through the programme. Ensuring that the project makes a positive impact on refugees arriving, that the team get all the support they need and that project partners are engaged positively.
You will possess an insight into the issues facing refugees integrating to a new community and have a good working knowledge of UK mainstream services. You will have experience and understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to work with people from a range of different cultures.
Along with the above, you will also have:
- Excellent management skills and the ability to support staff in emotionally demanding work.
- Excellent leadership skills to enable the team to have a clear sense of direction, feel motivated, empowered and have a clear understanding of how their own roles contribute to and enhance the work of the team as whole.
- Excellent partnership and negotiation skills, especially with Local Authorities, and the ability to work constructively and demonstrate influence and leadership with a wide range of external agencies, voluntary, statutory and private sector.
Please note that experience of working within the refugee sector is not an essential requirement for this role.
