An opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of young people in Wandsworth.

As a successful candidate you will be part of a multiagency team and will manage a generic caseload of young offender’s subject to court orders, produce reports for Courts, Community Panels or the secure estate and deliver interventions to young people and their families in order to reduce offending.

You will need to have a professional qualification in Social Work or Probation and an understanding of legislation relevant to youth justice, for example the Crime & Disorder Act 1998, Criminal Justice & Immigration Act 2008 and Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.

You must have recent experience of working directly with young people and their families and be able to implement individual and groupwork programmes involving young people and at times deal with challenging behaviour. You must demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity, in line with Wandsworth’s Equal Opportunity Policy.

Also essential are effective written and verbal communication, good IT and organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly - including evenings where necessary - to deal with competing demands.

In return, along with relevant training and development opportunities, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance. These include compressed hours and home working (dependent on service need) and a generous annual holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays.

In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as Performance Related Pay, membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments.
