Does a combination of outdoor and office based work appeal to you? The Engineering Service is looking for an experienced and technically qualified highways engineer to work within the Highways Team alongside 3 other Area Engineers.
Engineering is extending its services from managing the public realm highways work to include management of housing estate roads, paving and footway works. The main bulk of your work will be conducting inspections and verification of contractor works. If you enjoy travelling from site to site, speaking to members of the public and you have a qualification in Engineering/Transportation or equivalent.
The successful candidate will be flexible and adept at identifying improvements and prioritising work according to customer need and legal and health and safety requirements. You will analyse performance data to identify improved ways of working using a right first time approach. You will have an understanding of the importance of collating contact details and knowledge of other street and environmental services to ensure that services are joined up and work collaboratively across the borough.
As a valued team member you will make recommendations for continuous improvement demonstrating the ability to incorporate customer requirements, and develop your professionalism together with the services that you deliver.
You will also respond to service queries, complaints, Members Enquiries and responses to FOI requests in line with agreed standards and use these to inform service improvements.
