Harborough District Council’s vision is to work with communities in a vibrant, safe and prosperous district and to bring the best opportunities to all. 

The electoral register holds the details of all electors who are eligible to vote within the District of Harborough. The postholder will be required to assist the Electoral Services Manager in maintaining an accurate register by processing claims and answering queries from customers, as well as assisting with allied duties during peak periods including major elections and referenda. This will include dealing with queries from our customers ranging from electors to political agents and candidates, whilst ensuring adherence to our customer care standards, as well as a large number of administrative tasks.  

You will provide administrative support for maintaining the Local Land Charges Register, issuing official certificates of Search, facilitating personal searches and responding to enquires in accordance with guidelines and in accordance with performance targets.

The successful candidate will have a confident personality and possess excellent communication and time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines and deal with questions in a polite and professional manner. You will be able to work independently as well as part of a team and an ability to prioritise your workload is important. Full training on relevant legislation and the software used for elections and electoral registration will be provided.  An aptitude for ICT systems along with a working knowledge of administrative tasks and Windows based packages is necessary. Candidates should have GCSE Grade C Mathematics and English Language or equivalent or able to demonstrate equivalent aptitude.
