The Birmingham Childrens Trust is pleased to advertise the position of Deputy Manager within the Residential Services for Disabled Children.  This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the leadership team providing residential services to the children and families of Birmingham.

Edgewood Road is a large residential service providing long term care and short breaks for disabled children with complex health and care needs. Edgewood Road is a permanent home to 10 children and 40 children access the short breaks service. Edgewood Road has a social care staff team of 42 and the NHS provide nursing staff and management oversight to the short breaks service.

The Deputy Manager assists the Home Manager to provide overall management of BCT employees. Develop and motivate staff teams to ensure excellent outcomes for children and ensure that quality standards are met. The Deputy Manager will be crucial to the effective delivery of services; working in partnership with the NHS to ensure that children are engaged and their need are met.

As a Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for supervising staff, auditing children’s files and contributing to quality and performance audits.  As part of the leadership of the home you will be responsible for supporting the staff to deliver safe and quality services that promote the welfare of children and their families.

Working as part of a team, you will be accountable for the quality of day-to-day care; administration and organization of the Children's Home.  You will support and assist staff in contributing to and reviewing Education, Health and Care plans, care plans and short break plans for each child and formulating clear objectives of the placement for each child. You will work in partnership with families and other professionals to ensure children’s needs are met and children are effectively safeguarded.

You must have effective communication, leadership and counselling skills, coupled with an understanding of the needs and rights of disabled children and children in care.

You would be required to work shifts, including some weekends, as part of a Rota to include public holidays.
