Planning and Litigation Lawyer

(Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX)

Salary range: SCP 29-42 (£32,045 - £46,069) depending on experience

Spelthorne Borough Council’s legal team has a strong reputation for providing high quality legal advice in a wide range of areas including property, contracts, planning, litigation and licensing.

The requirements for the role are, to be a solicitor, barrister or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and have:

  • knowledge and experience of dealing with regulatory enforcement and planning enforcement cases; and/or
  • knowledge and experience of criminal and civil litigation work; and
  • The enthusiasm to extend that knowledge and experience to the sector which you may not have that knowledge and experience.

The post will be responsible for providing advice on a variety of areas, principally litigation work and other related areas (e.g. enforcement and regulation). The enforcement will include planning enforcement and this is an ideal opportunity for someone with litigation experience to develop their knowledge to include wider aspects of planning law. 

We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer who is confident enough to run their own caseload of varied and high-profile matters and is also able to work as part of a strong team in a high performing council.  You will receive excellent supervision and support.  Spelthorne is an innovative organisation and offers plenty of opportunities for future training, advancement and development.
