Family Learning Sessional Tutor – Post ref FL1
Starting salary: TACC scale 1, £21.99 per hour + fringe
Various hours, days and times

Family Learning is an integral part of Thurrock Adult Community College, which offers a broad range of learning opportunities to meet both local needs and government priorities. Courses include family English and maths plus ‘wider family learning’ courses, where English, maths and IT are embedded but not the focus of the course e.g. healthy eating and cooking, wellbeing, exercise, crafts and singing. Tutors must be willing to visit the school to develop course content, prior to the course starting.

You will join a supportive team who work closely together to improve life chances of both parents and their children. Working in close partnership with schools & children’s centres across Thurrock, these workshops and courses are specifically designed to help parents improve their own skills whilst learning how to support their children. Some courses are joint (parent and child) but every course links to the child’s development.

Sessions will typically be 2 hours, mornings or afternoons in school term time although occasional Saturday morning or holiday engagement workshops may also be required. The amount of work you are offered will depend on the number and type of courses scheduled.

Qualifications - Tutors should have a recognised teaching qualification (or a commitment to undertake a level 3 teaching qualification within the first year of employment). You will have knowledge of child development, as well as experience of working with adults to support both their own skill development and their ability to support their child's learning.
